Q. What is the difference between the F3-OMUX-1, -2, and -3 modules.
A. All three part numbers are functionally equivalent but each has a unique application.

The F3-OMUX-3 supports hardware handshaking on port 1 which allows a modem to be used. There are two RS232/422/485 jumper selectable ports on this module. This part number also allows a smaller number of Optomux addresses per F3-OMUX-3 CPU (Can be set for 4,8,12 or 16). This module would be used where you need modem support or many nodes with a small number of I/O per node.

The F3-OMUX-2 has two RS422/485 ports (RS232 is not supported on this module)). Each port uses a different signal ground reference. This module also supports the Optomux repeat mode operation. This module is not recommended for new applications.

The F3-OMUX-1 has two RS232/422/485 jumper selectable ports on this module. This module would be used for non-modem applications for an RS232 point to Point or RS422/485 Multdrop application.

Q. I get an 'N08' error code when I try to read a discrete I/O module. What is this error code?
A. 'N08' means that a slot is configured as analog but is actually contains a discrete I/O module. Set the J2 jumpers to reflect the I/O configuration.
